It’s really all about solving problems. The world is full of problems and we really believe that if people dedicated some of their time and resources to solving those problems, the world would be a better place. So, that’s what we decided to do. With Rogue Idea Development, we’ve created a place where we can ideate, dream, brainstorm, collaborate and other synonyms that describe the creative, problem solving process.
Since Idea Development is kind of a big concept that could go a lot of directions, we’ve broken it down into three, easily approachable categories. (Whatever that means.) Here they are and what they entail:
We like developing solutions to problems so much that sometimes we just need to do it ourselves. (And, occasionally, we have the skills to actually pull something amazing off!) The solutions we come up with here could take a variety of shapes like apps or physical products or
living pods that have high speed wifi, cell service and cable. (It could happen!) We’v already got some awesome stuff in the works that will change your life. (For reals.) Check out the “Current Projects” section below to see what we’re up to these days.
Pack your bags and load the family up… it’s time for a road trip! Since we all know that it’s the journey that counts, let’s make the journey a little more fun. Introducing The Road Trip Games App. We’ve taken those old newspaper-style books we used to take on road trips as a kid and brought them into the 21st century. With The Road Trip Games App your family can be entertained through fun competition on your iPad as you trek across the state or country (or even in your own backyard). Games like Hangman, Tic-Tac-Toe and Dots get a whole new life in The Road Trip Games App and road trip classics such as The License Plate Game and (every parent’s favorite) The Quiet Game now have fun, digital interaction. Whether you’re ready to get in the car and take off, or you’re just looking for a fun game night with the kids, download The Road Trip Games App! COMING SOON!
Rogue Collective is more than simply an office or workspace for rent; it is a membership to a collaborative environment. Rogue Collective is a creative haven where independent creatives can work in community and benefit from the experiences, resources and genius of the people surrounding them. While retaining their autonomy, members of Rogue Collective become partners in ideating and problem solving, led by the proven team at Rogue Idea Development. (The guys who came up with this whole thing!) This environment starts in “The Attic” (our physical space in Santa Ana) and extends to wherever your work takes you!
It took a while for us to admit it, but it seems that sometimes other people have good ideas too. (Actually, there are a lot of great ones out there!) However, a lot of people don't know what to do with their amazing ideas, so we figured we could help them out. And, since we have quite a bit of experience in a variety of areas like design (graphic, web, photography, video, etc...),
product development and organizational leadership, we have the ability to help you bring your ideas to life. So, whether its developing ideas for a particular product or project or strategizing for your organization, book an Idea Development Session with us and we’ll help you make it happen!
While we love coming up with solutions to problems, there’s only so much that we can do ourselves. So, we thought, “what if we gave some of our ideas away?” This is how the forthcoming Rogue Ideas! show was born. The show is our opportunity to give back to the world. We bring an ideating panel of diverse minds together to solve problems big and small through innovation and generosity. The best part... all ideas generated on the show are “open-source.” This means that anyone can take an idea they hear on the show and develop it, build on it and make it happen! Our dream is that the show will inspire people everywhere to take some risks and make a difference in the world. Who knows? One day we may see rogue ideas popping up all over the place! This project is expected to launch in early 2015.
Due to a severe case of (self-diagnosed) ADD, Matt’s taken on a wide variety of endeavors since he graduated from Pepperdine University in 2001. He’s been a high school teacher and activities director, an organizational leadership consultant (a title he made up), a curriculum developer and a board member for a bunch of non-profits. He’s overseen the production on a few kids worship albums, written and produced short-form kids films, traveled around the country speaking about leadership or family ministries or whatever he felt like speaking about and worked in several church ministries including families, creative arts, missions and leadership. He likes to think that he’s smart, but his friends and family think he’s just over-educated. (After two masters degrees, he finally stopped going to school... for now.) Oh yeah... and he taught some college for a while too.
The common thread for his (self-diagnosed) ADD approach to life is his love for ideas. He loves to brainstorm them, develop them and see them come to fruition. When he and Joel get together, the ideas start flowing and neither of them will shut up about it. (Ask anyone.) This led to the birth of Rogue Idea Development as well as the forthcoming Rogue Ideas! think-tank.
Matt lives in Irvine, CA with his amazing French Bulldog and company namesake, Rogue.
“I always feel like the youngest guy in the room.” Joel got an early start on life, as he knew that he wanted to be in the visual arts from age 14 on. By the time he was a senior in High School, he was working as an editor for a small videography company, then after graduating from film school at 19, he decided to start his own. He did this for a few years, until he took over the Media Director role at a large publisher, where he directed over 50 short films, as well as other video and design pieces. In early 2014, Joel left that role to pursue other passions. He now runs a creative agency that does work for some of the world biggest companies, including Time Warner Cable, Carnival, Oakley, IBM, and more.
More than anything, however, Joel is a dreamer. He is constantly dreaming up new ideas, solutions, and products, each of which (in his mind) is more likely to change the world than the last. His wife absolutely loves this quality about him (oh, wait, no she doesn’t).
Joel lives in Costa Mesa, CA with his wife Shasta and his non-company namesake australian shepherd, Bonnie.
Rogue has been Matt’s French Bulldog since 2009. Being the inspiration for the name and logo of Rogue Idea Development has gone straight to her head. She frequently roams about the Rogue Collective offices claiming to have a significant role in running the company. In fact, she submitted the following for her bio…
“Arrrf! Arf, arf, arf. <Snort> Arf, arrrrf, arrrfff!!!.” (Google Translator: “I’m pretty much the most awesome French Bulldog of all time. This is all mine, by the way. If Matt & Joel keep taking credit for all my ideas, I’ll pee in their shoes. Let’s be honest… I probably will anyway.”)
